Hands on Day Spa Under New Ownership
A woman with no connection to the previous owner took over on Sept. 1.

As of Sept. 1, Hands On Day Spa is under new management.
The spa, where two women were arrested for prostitution in April, is now owned by a woman who goes by the name Yoko. Yoko is 59 years old, and was born in Japan. She moved to the United States with her husband in 1992 when the company he worked for moved from Japan to America.
Yoko said she has no ties to the previous owner, and she wasn’t aware of any previous problems the spa had before taking over.

“I’ve had customers come in here looking for certain people and I have to tell them they don’t work here anymore and we’re under new management,” she said. “They turn around and leave.”
In April of this year, both of Galloway were arrested by , who conducted a two-week investigation of the spa, located at 714 White Horse Pike.

Police Chief Patrick Moran said there was no evidence of a between the spa’s previous owners and any illegal activity. The previous owner has since moved to South Korea, but the arrests seem to have had an effect on the business in the ensuing months.
According to Yoko, only three paying customers have come in to the spa since Sept. 1.
She’s taken out advertisements in the newspaper and Mike and Rhonda Hauser, owners of next to the spa, have been sending customers to her.
“Rhonda refers people to come over,” Yoko said. “She tells them everything is open and we are not hiding anything.”
The previous owners kept the entrance closed at all times.
“I don’t like to have the door closed,” Yoko said. “I want everything to be open. I’m looking for people to come in.
“I have no connection to the previous owner and none of the same people are still here.”
Yoko owned a flower shop in West Chester, Pennsylvania from 1996-2009. The economic downturn had a negative impact on her business, and she eventually decided to close her shop and sell flowers out of her home.
Her husband works at a car dealership in Pennsylvania. Both of her children are adults and are raising their own families. However, being a housewife wasn’t what Yoko was looking for, so when a friend called to tell her the spa was available to purchase, she looked into it.
The price was right, and she moved in Sept. 1.
She has one helper, who she put through a thorough background check. Both Yoko and her helper are both certified massage therapists. They offer various types of massages, including full-body massages, foot massages and hot towel massages.
They are opened from 9 a.m.-10 p.m. daily and cost is $65 for a one-hour massage.
