Heroin Found At Galloway Park: What Should You Do?
After heroin was found at a Galloway park, police are sharing advice on what you should do if you find yourself in the same situation.
GALLOWAY, NJ — What should you do if you find drugs in public? After heroin was found at a local park, police are telling residents how to respond in this situation.
"The resident took the appropriate measures by contacting our police department to make sure the drugs were properly removed and secured," Galloway police said of Thursday's incident.
If you find something you suspect to be an illegal drug, here's what you should do, police say:

𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟏: 𝐃𝐨 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐩𝐢𝐜𝐤 𝐮𝐩, 𝐭𝐨𝐮𝐜𝐡, 𝐨𝐫 𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐝𝐫𝐮𝐠. Depending on the drug and packaging, unintentional absorption could occur. The increase in Fentanyl also becomes an added danger. Leave the drugs where you found them.
𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝟐: 𝐂𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐜𝐭 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐜𝐞 𝐃𝐞𝐩𝐚𝐫𝐭𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 Contact the Galloway Township Police Department at 609-652-3705 extension 1 to report the found drugs. We will come out immediately to secure the located items. If you don't remember this number, you can always call 9-1-1
𝙔𝙊𝙐 𝙒𝙄𝙇𝙇 𝙉𝙊𝙏 𝙂𝙀𝙏 𝙄𝙉 𝙏𝙍𝙊𝙐𝘽𝙇𝙀 Reporting found drugs is the right thing to do, and you will not be arrested for doing so. Even if an individual is overdosing from drug use, the "Overdose Prevention Act" in NJ ensures that individual will not be charged with drug possession.
