Hillary Clinton Attacks Donald Trump's Business Practices in Atlantic City Rally
The presumptive Democratic presidential nominee spoke about casino closures and lawsuits filed against the presumptive Republican nominee.

For the second time in three months, a prominent Democrat appeared in Atlantic City to take aim at presumptive Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump’s business dealings.
Presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton took aim at Trump’s failed business dealings locally in an appearance in front of Boardwalk Hall on Wednesday afternoon.
“We’re standing in front of the old Trump Plaza Casino and Hotel,” Clinton told a crowd of about 500 people who gathered to watch her speak. “Donald Trump once predicted, ‘It will be the biggest hit yet.’ Now it’s abandoned. You can just make out the word ‘TRUMP’ where it used to be written in flashy lights. He had the letters taken down a few years ago.”

She went on to talk about the old Trump Marina Hotel Casino, which was sold a few years ago “at a huge loss” and the Trump Taj Mahal, which filed for bankruptcy in 2009.
“He intentionally ran up huge amounts of debt on his companies – hundreds of millions of dollars,” Clinton said. “He borrowed at high interest rates – even after promising regulators that he wouldn’t. What came next? He defaulted on those loans. Didn’t pay them back. And at the end, he bankrupted his companies – not once, not twice, but four times.”

She went on to say he always rigged his business deals so that others put their money into investments, and Trump walked away with millions.
“And here’s an important thing about how Donald Trump operates. He doesn’t default and go bankrupt as a last resort,” Clinton said. “He does it over and over again on purpose – even though he knows he will leave others empty-handed while he keeps the plane, the helicopter, the penthouse.”
She said he’s been the target of lawsuits from many normal people, and that they are the same people he is now trying to convince to vote for him in November.
One of those people is small businessman Marty Rosenberg, whose family business, Atlantic Plate Glass, was contracted to install floor-to-ceiling curtain walls of glass at the Trump Taj Mahal, according to the Clinton campaign.
Atlantic Plate Glass was not paid in full for its work on the Taj Mahal, and Trump eventually owed the company more than $1 million. Rosenberg eventually joined in a lawsuit against Trump, but ultimately lost $450,000, according to the campaign.
Trump responded to the rally before it began via Twitter.
“I made a lot of money in Atlantic City and left 7 years ago, great timing (as all know),” Trump posted on Twitter early Wednesday morning. “Pols made big mistakes, now many bankruptcies.
“Hillary Clinton should ask why the Democrat pols in Atlantic City made all the wrong moves - Convention Center, Airport - and destroyed City. Even the once great Caesars is bankrupt in A.C. Others to follow. Ask the Democrat City Council what happened to Atlantic City.”
Clinton’s appearance came nearly two months after Bernie Sanders appeared in Atlantic City with a similar message.
At the time, Sanders said the current state of Atlantic City’s casinos encapsulates the greed that he says is the problem all across America.
