Homeowner Disrupts Attempted Burglary In Absecon: Police

One man was arrested, but the other remains at large after the homeowner discovered them in the house on Saturday.

A homeowner in Absecon recently took matters into their own hands when they came home to discover two men in their house, police said.

The homeowner came home on Saturday, Nov. 5, to find two men inside their house in the middle of an attempted burglary, Absecon Police said on Monday.

The homeowner chased them out of the house, and was able to capture one of the men, with the help of family members, police said. The second person escaped.

Jean K. Octavius, 29, of Pleasantville, was arrested and charged with burglary, criminal mischief and terroristic threats. He was transported to the Atlantic County Justice Facility on $50,000 bail.

There were no reported injuries during this incident, according to police.
