It’s no wonder, since they’re greeted by a staggering 250 species of animals, birds and reptiles.

The Cape May Court House is fortunate to have this free county park and zoo located just over 10 miles away from one of the Jersey Shore’s top vacation destinations, Wildwood. It’s the perfect choice when you’re looking for things to do with your family, plus it’s just a quick drive away from each North Wildwood motel.

The Residents of Cape May County Zoo

This spectacular zoo in the Cape May Court House features over 550 critters representing more than 250 different species. And best of all, in 2010, the birth of two Snow Leopard cubs put the zoo on the national map. In 2012, the zoo saw its third consecutive year of Snow Leopard births! A well-planned boardwalk system takes you up and over several living areas of the park’s inhabitants, including lions, cheetah, giraffe, zebras, bison and more. Plus, you’ll find sheltered rest areas with binoculars for viewing. The Aviary

This enclosed, climate-controlled $1.2 million World of Birds has 20 species from exotic flamingos to more familiar birds.

The Reptile House

Approximately 75 species of alligators, lizards, snakes, turtles and arachnids live in this building. An especially rare species of reptile, the Asian turtle from Cambodia lives here too! You can also check our plenty of snakes, such as pythons and boa constrictors.

Animals at the Zoo in the Cape May Court House

Get ready to enjoy more than 100 species of animals including camels, reindeer, a black bear, bison, red pandas, the world’s largest rodent the capybara and more.

The African Savannah

You and your friends and family can take a walk on the boardwalk to safely view 30 acres of plains-type habitat where African antelopes zebras and giraffes roam freely.

Cat Exhibit

The zoo is creating a “big-cat walk” featuring a cluster of new and renovated exhibits showcasing its Amur tiger, cheetahs, snow leopards and African lions.

Primates

Who doesn’t love monkeys? At this zoo, you’ll find about a dozen different species of monkeys that are sure to entertain kids and adults alike.

New Jersey Animals

From swift foxes to river otters and other New Jersey natives, you’ll enjoy plenty of sightings of our state’s own animals.

Ponds and Fountains
Don’t forget to check out the zoo’s three ponds and fountains where you’ll see gorgeous swans and other waterfowl.

The Hummingbird Express
If you’re looking for things to do with your family in Wildwood, NJ, and you’ve got small children with you, a train ride at the zoo is a great way to end the day. The Hummingbird Express, a four-car miniature passenger train, pulled by an old steam locomotive takes you through the park, looping around the new Butterfly Garden and Hummingbird Habitat.
