LoBiondo Wins 11th Term in Congress

The Republican incumbent pulled away from Democrat William Hughes Jr. in recent weeks.

In the end, Rep. Frank LoBiondo (R-2) ran away with a race that once seemed promising for his Democratic challenger.

LoBiondo defeated William Hughes Jr. to win an 11th term in Congress, according to unofficial results posted Tuesday night.

LoBiondo won, 20,067-9,541 in Cape May County; 33,183-24,100 in Atlantic County; 1,425-678 in Camden County; 13,581-7,411 in Gloucester County; 16.201-11,619 in Cumberland County; 7,986-3,413 in Ocean County; and an undetermined margin in Burlington and Salem counties.

The race gained national attention early on, but LoBiondo pulled away down the stretch.

Hughes is the son of William Hughes Sr., who served the district from 1974-1994, prior to LoBiondo’s election.
