Chase Results In Arrest In Galloway Township: Police

The chase began after police say they saw a drug deal in Egg Harbor City, police said.

GALLOWAY TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Port Republic man led police on a chase that went through two towns and involved a car crash in Galloway Township, police said Monday night.

Travis C. Wilson, 24, is charged with eluding/resisting arrest, hindering apprehension and several motor vehicle offenses in Egg Harbor City.

The chase began after police say they witnessed a drug sale involving Wilson and an unknown person at about 5:17 p.m. Monday evening in Egg Harbor City.

When officers attempted to stop Wilson, he took off in his car, according to police. It was learned that Wilson had an outstanding warrant out of the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department. Wilson fled into Galloway Township, where Galloway Township Police joined the pursuit.

Wilson eventually crashed his vehicle at the corner of Leipig Avenue and Cologne Avenue, where he then ran off, police said.

Galloway K-9 Sergeant Winneberger conducted a K-9 track from the accident scene. Winneberger and K-9 Rocky captured Wilson a short time later.

Wilson was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division and treated for his injuries. He was then charged and lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
