Man, Dog Struck In Absecon Hit-And-Run: Police
The man, Syed Hoque, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, while his dog was killed in the crash, authorities said.
ABSECON, NJ — A man and his dog were struck by a car shortly after midnight at a South Jersey intersection in a hit-and-run this weekend, Absecon police said.
The dog was killed in the crash at Highland Boulevard and Marlborough Avenue on Nov. 30, while the man, 25-year-old Syed Hoque of Absecon, was hospitalized with life-threatening injuries, police said.
The driver fled the scene after the crash, and a passing motorist called 911, police said.

Officers thoroughly searched the area and found a car matching the provided description. A traffic stop was conducted and Byron A. Jones, 52, of Mays Landing was taken into custody, police said.
This crash is still under investigation by the Absecon Police Department's Traffic Safety Unit with the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office.

Traffic was interrupted in the area for about four hours following the crash.
