Man Killed In South Jersey ATV Crash: Police

The 64-year-old man was riding his ATV in Egg Harbor Township when he crashed into a utility pole, police said.

EGG HARBOR TWP., NJ — Authorities are investigating a late-night crash where a man died while riding an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).

It was about 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 20 when police responded to Betsy Scull Road near the Atlantic County Firearms Training Facility for a report of the single-vehicle crash.

A 64-year-old man from Egg Harbor Township was driving a 2017 Can-Am ATV when it struck a utility pole, police said. He was the only person on the ATV. In the crash, he suffered life-threatening injuries and was dead when officers arrived on the scene, police said. His name is being withheld by police pending notification of family.

The Egg Harbor Township Police Department was assisted on scene by Egg Harbor Township EMS and the Scullville Fire Department. The Atlantic County Prosecutors Office is assisting the police department in the investigation.

The crash is being investigated by Ofc. Nathan Lahr and Ofc. Cody Ng of the Traffic Safety Unit. This incident remains under investigation at this time. Anybody with information related to the crash can contact the Traffic Safety Unit at 609-926-2661.
