Man Lit Mattress In South Jersey Motel On Fire: Police
Shawn Negron lit the mattress on fire and then fled, causing several motel tenants to be displaced, police said.
LANDISVILLE, NJ — A man intentionally set fire to a motel mattress and then fled, causing other tenants to be displaced, according to police.
The incident occurred at the Budget Motel in the Landisville section of Buena on Nov. 25, according to Franklin Township police, who cover the borough.
Initial reports indicated that one room was on fire, and witnesses said it may have been set intentionally, police said.

Investigation revealed that Shawn Negron, 31, lit the mattress in his motel room on fire and then fled, police said.
Negron, who was living at the motel, was found at a nearby business and taken into custody without incident, police said.

No injuries were reported, however, multiple motel rooms were damaged and several tenants were displaced, according to police.
Negron was charged with arson, causing or risking widespread injury or damage and criminal mischief. He was taken to the Atlantic County Correctional Facility.
