Man Sentenced For Rape Of Girlfriend's Daughter, 5, In Atlantic City

Oscar Oberlino Gomez Miralda, 43, sexually assaulted the 5-year-old in her room while her mom, his girlfriend, was at work, officials say.

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — An Atlantic City man will spend 25 years in prison after he was found guilty of raping his girlfriend's 5-year-old daughter.

Oscar Oberlino Gomez Miralda, 43, was sentenced for first-degree aggravated sexual assault on Dec. 2, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced. He must serve all 25 years before parole eligibility, pursuant to the Jessica Lunsford Act, which puts this requirement on sex offenders who assault children under the age of 13.

Gomez Miralda was also sentenced to seven years for endangering the welfare of a child by sexual conduct, which will run concurrently to his 25-year sentence. Upon release, he will have to register as a sex offender under Megan's Law and is subject to parole supervision for life.

A jury found that Gomez Miralda "committed an act of sexual penetration" on the girl on Dec. 25, 2022 in her Atlantic City home, authorities said.

It was discovered by the girl's mother, who set up a camera phone to record her daughter's bedroom while she was at work, authorities said.

Gomez Miralda was dating the mother at the time of the assault and lived in the house with them, officials said.
