Mayor Don Purdy Wants to See Galloway Returned to Second District After Recent Casino Closings

Galloway joined the 9th Legislative District in 2011. It can't return until the next redistricting, according to The Press of Atlantic City.

With the impact the recent casino closings are having on Galloway, Mayor Don Purdy would like to see the Township placed back into the Second Legislative District, The Press of Atlantic City reports.

Assemblyman Chris Brown (R-Atlantic) said it would be impossible to put Galloway back into the district before the redistricting meeting held every 10 years, but he’s doing everything to help unemployed casino workers throughout the county, according to the report.

There are 3,641 casino employees living in Galloway, and 696 have lost their job due to the recent closings of Showboat, Revel and Trump Plaza, according to the report.
