Memorial Day of Remembrance

The General Lafayette Chapter of the National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution invite all to attend their annual ceremony of remembrance to be held at the DAR Monument in Chestnut Neck. Chapter members were the commissioners of the State of New Jersey in the erection and dedication in 1911, to honor our local ancestors defending our forming Nation. The sentinel keeps watch over the waterways to safeguard us. The annual tribute is to the war dead, wounded, MIA and POWs and to their family members and must include prayers for those with unseen wounds. The monument is also a stop for a tribute in the annual "New Jersey Run for the Fallen". The remembrance will be at 10:30 A.M. and end as we join the SAR at their dedication service at 11:A.M. Colonial dress is invited.
