Men Sentenced to Six Years in 2011 Egg Harbor City Vehicular Homicide
Kevin Dilks and Alec Kavanagh were each sentenced to six years in the death of Ashley Adams.

Two men were sentenced to six years in prison in connection with a crash that killed a 19-year-old woman in Egg Harbor City in 2011, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain announced on Friday.
Kevin Dilks, 22, of Chatsworth, and Alec Kavanagh, 22, of Browns Mills, each pleaded guilty to vehicular homicide on April 8, admitting to racing on the highway that resulted in the death of Ashley Adams, 19, of Southampton.
On Oct. 23, 2011, at approximately 1:30 a.m., authorities from the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office, the Egg Harbor City Police Department and the Galloway Township Police Department responded to the scene of a one-car motor vehicle accident on Clarks Landing Road, in Egg Harbor City.

A Jeep Cherokee driven by Dilks had been traveling south on Clarks Landing Road when the driver lost control of the vehicle.
The vehicle then overturned and left the highway, coming to rest against several trees.

Adams was a passenger in the car and was ejected. She sustained serious injuries and was flown to Atlanticare Regional Medical Center in Atlantic City.
She was pronounced dead as the result of multiple blunt force traumas.
Dilks suffered minor injury, and was transported by ambulance to the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center.
Three days later, Dilks was charged with vehicular homicide, driving under the influence, reckless driving, and underage drinking,
On Jan. 30, 2013, Dilks and Kavanagh were each indicted for vehicular homicide and conspiracy. The State alleged that Dilks and Kavanagh were racing on the highway when Dilks lost control of his vehicle.
Dilks and Kavanagh each must serve five years, one month and six days of their sentences before becoming eligible for parole.
