Missing Man's Car Pulled From Atlantic City Waters: Police

ATLANTIC CITY, NJ — A car belonging to a man who was reported missing in November 2016 was pulled from Atlantic City waters this week, though the man himself is still missing, authorities said.

Dashand Stokelin, 36, was reported missing by his family on Nov. 23, 2016. The Atlantic City resident was last seen in the early morning in the 200 block of North Carolina Avenue, driving a 2016 blue Subaru Legacy.

This week, a boat operator was navigating through Clam Thorofare when he saw what looked like a vehicle on the floor of the water through his sonar, Atlantic City police said.

He alerted law enforcement and the next day, the Brigantine Fire Department Dive Team commenced a diving operation, police said.

Divers found the vehicle and determined that it had been there for a long time, police said.

On Oct. 2, New Jersey State Police and Iaconelli Construction removed the vehicle from the water. It's confirmed that the vehicle was the same Subaru Legacy that Stokelin was driving the morning of his disappearance, according to police.

However, a search of the vehicle yielded no human remains, police said.
