Missing South Jersey Man Found Dead In Woods

A widespread search ended late Monday.

A missing South Jersey man was found dead in the woods this week after a widespread search, police said.

The man was found on Sunday, when officers from the Egg Harbor Township Police Department responded to a residence on Atlantic Avenue, in the Farmington section of the township, for the report of a missing person.

William Froener, 91 years of age from Egg Harbor Township, reportedly suffered from dementia and had a history of wandering away from his residence, police said.

On Monday, Froener was located deceased in a wooded area near his residence, following a secondary search, with the assistance of bloodhounds from the Atlantic County Sheriff’s Department.

His cause of death has not yet been determined, however “foul play” is not suspected, police said.

The NJ State Police Missing Person’s Unit, NJ State Police Division of Gaming Enforcement, and “A Child Is Missing Recovery Center,” also assisted with the investigation.
