UPDATED: National Weather Service Forecasts Snow, Rain, Sleet for the Weekend

Snowfall is expected to begin around 1 a.m.

It may be cold right now, but it's about as dry as it's going to get this weekend, according the weather forecast from the National Weather Service out of Mount Holly.

The forecast calls for snow before 5 a.m., and a mix of rain and snow after that. Overnight snow acculmulation of less than a half inch is possible, and chance of precipitation is 70 percent.

Chance of precipitation on Saturday is about 90 percent, but is expected to come in the form of rain, mostly before 1 p.m., according to the forecast. New rainfall amounts are expected to be between a tenth and a quarter of an inch. There's a chance of rain and snow before 11 p.m., followed by a slight chance of snow between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m.Chance of precipitation during this period is 20 percent.

The sun is expected to return on Sunday, but more rain is possible after 1 p.m.
