NJ Elementary School Catches Fire During Brutal Snow Storm: Police

Several classrooms were damaged in the overnight fire, Galloway police said.

GALLOWAY, NJ β€” A South Jersey elementary school caught fire overnight during snowy and brutally cold conditions, police said.

A neighboring resident alerted emergency responders to the fire at Arthur Rann Elementary School just after midnight Monday, Galloway police said.

Smoke and flames were seen coming from the building, police said.

The fire, located in a classroom, was extinguished thanks to the quick response of local fire departments.

That classroom was damaged by the fire; several neighboring classrooms also sustained minor damage, police said.

The fire's cause remains under investigation, but police do not believe it to be suspicious.

"The quick actions of the responding police and fire personnel led to the fire being contained and extinguished quickly and the damage kept to a minimum," police said.
