One Dead Following 2-Car Crash in Galloway

Kathia Cruz 33, of Galloway, was killed Saturday night.

A Galloway woman has been pronounced dead following a two-car accident on Pomona Road and Aloe Street Saturday evening, according to Galloway Township Police.

Kathia Cruz 33, of Galloway, was killed after a 2001 Toyota Carolla she was driving east on Aloe Street was hit by a 2008 Jeep Wrangler driven by Robert Gardner 38, also of Galloway, as it traveled south on Pomona Road.

The impact caused both vehicles to leave the road before coming to a final stop.

The accident occurred after Cruz allegedly ran a stop sign on Pomona Road around 6:19 p.m.

The driver and rear passenger of the Toyota had to be extricated from the vehicle by Pomona Fire Company.

Two passengers from the Toyota were transported to ARMC City Division for serious injuries.

Cruz was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division, where she was pronounced deceased.

Gardner was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Mainland Division, and treated for minor injuries.

Pomona Road between Atlantic Avenue and Genoa Avenue was shut down for approximately two hours while the scene was investigated, and debris and vehicles removed.

The accident remains under investigation.
