Prior to the event, city officials bury 1,200 treasure chests in dozens of squared off blocks of sand. Kids age 12 and under are then invited to chose a pit and start digging for one goodie-filled treasure chest each, which includes a variety of treasures like salt water taffy, Morey’s Piers amusement passes, coupons for arcades on the Wildwoods Boardwalk, rings and other prizes.
