Readers' Choice Winner: Yogo Factory

In the first week under the new points system, the Readers’ Choice poll was ultimately still decided by a single vote.

Under the new points system in which businesses earn 10 points for having the most votes, eight points for having the second highest and six points for the third, and the same point system for business ratings, came away as the winner in the favorite candy store/ice cream shop category with 18 points.

The new system officially takes into account business ratings in Patch Places, where Lindy Hops received five stars and Yogo Factory and Candy Bar Girls each have the same amount. So Lindy Hops received 10 points and Yogo Factory and Candy Bar Girls each received eight.

Before this week, readers’ votes were the major factor, with the local editor having the final say. This week, it once again came down to the votes, where Yogo Factory edged Candy Bar Girls by one vote, 43 votes to 42. Lindy Hops was third with 12 votes.

Yogo Factory opened last July in Risley Square on Jimmie Leeds Road, across from the municipal complex. It serves up frozen yogurt and sorbets, and allows customers to make their own dessert.

Current business hours for Yogo Factory are Sunday-Thursday, noon-11 p.m. and Friday and Saturday, noon-midnight.
