Rep. LoBiondo Serves South Jersey Well

Rep. LoBiondo stands up for South Jersey Taxpayers, Opposes Narrowing of SALT & Opening the Arctic to Drilling in Tax Bill

For over 20 years, Rep. LoBiondo has served the hard-working people of South Jersey well. His measured approach to policy-making, putting people before politics, will no doubt be missed when he retires from Congress at the end of 2018.

Rep. LoBiondo recent leadership on the tax reform bill is particularly notable. He stood up to leadership, urging them to fully preserve the state and local tax (SALT) deductions that so many New Jersey taxpayers rely upon. He also signed on to a letter opposing the inclusion of an ill-advised provision in the tax bill that opens the pristine Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to drilling in an attempt to offset the tax cuts. A move that Rep. LoBiondo correctly pointed out is based on highly-speculative revenue projections that will more likely add to the deficit.

Sadly, both the narrowing of SALT and the Arctic drilling language made it into the final tax bill. While this rare opportunity for meaningful tax reform falls very short for New Jersey, Rep. LoBiondo’s efforts to stand up for state’s taxpayers are greatly appreciated nonetheless.
