It was unclear if more signs of the shark were found, but the sightings come in the wake of a rash of shark attacks off the coasts of the Carolinas, according to the report.

The shark was spotted off the Gladstone Avenue beach around 1 p.m., beach patrol told NBC10.

Lifeguards jumped into a rowboat and went out to investigate the sighting, saying the shark appeared to be chasing a large school of fish nearby, according to the report.

No one was injured, and swimming was allowed again about an hour later, according to the report.
