Police Identify Person Killed In Shooting At The Walk In Atlantic City

The shooting comes a few days following another shooting on the Atlantic City Expressway.

Atlantic City, NJ -- The victim of a fatal shooting that took place at The Walk in Atlantic City Thursday afternoon was a 26-year-old Absecon man, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office confirmed.

Christopher Romero was shot during what the prosecutor's office has called a "domestic related matter,"

Atlantic County Acting Prosecutor Diane M. Ruberton said Thursday night.

Police say Romero was shot by 55-year-old Luis Maisonet, of Somers Point, in the Zumiez store around noon. Romero was taken to Atlantic Care Regional Medical Center, City Division, where he was pronounced dead.

Maisonet fled the scene, suffered a self-inflicted gunshot wound and remains hospitalized in critical condition.

A weapon has also been recovered.

The Walk, also known as the Tanger Outlets, is an outdoor shopping plaza that features over 100 stores. It covers three blocks, and opened in Atlantic City in 2003.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department continue to investigate the matter, and no additional details are being released at this time.

There have been multiple shootings in Atlantic County this week.

Earlier in the week, one person was killed and four others were injured in a shooting on the Atlantic City Expressway in Hamilton Township.

Five people have been charged in that incident, but police were still searching for additional suspects who were in a black Dodge Ram pickup truck that exited the Expressway in Pleasantville shortly after the shooting. The abandoned truck was found in Pleasantville Tuesday night.

Prior to that, there were a pair of shootings in Egg Harbor City over the weekend.
