Spencer Spirit Holdings and Community FoodBank of New Jersey Celebrate Five Years Fighting Hunger Together
Staff, executives, and local officials gathered for a check presentation to commemorate the partnership milestone

EGG HARBOR TOWNSHIP, NJ – June 5, 2026
Yesterday at Spencer Spirit Holdings’ corporate headquarters in Egg Harbor Township, local officials, Community FoodBank of New Jersey (CFBNJ) leaders, and Spencer Spirit Holdings leadership and employees gathered for a check presentation recognizing five years of partnership in the fight against hunger in South Jersey. Since 2021, the parent company has donated $100,000 annually and has been named a Visionary Impact Partner each year, CFBNJ’s highest level of corporate impact partnership.
This year’s support will help fund several critical initiatives across the region, including the FoodBank’s Delivering Hope and Family Pack programs, which deliver medically tailored meals to those in need with limited mobility and provide boxes of nutritious supplemental food to families over the weekend, when kids miss access to free school meals. Some of the funds will also sponsor the FoodBank’s upcoming Meal on a Mission: A Chefs Tableside Experience and Women Fighting Hunger Luncheon events, providing about 105,000 meals in Atlantic, Cape May, and Cumberland Counties. The remaining portion of the gift will provide unrestricted support that allows CFBNJ to respond to emerging needs and continue advancing its mission.

High-level attendees of the check presentation included CFBNJ President & CEO Elizabeth McCarthy, Spencer Spirit Holdings CEO Steven Silverstein, Spencer Spirit Holdings President, COO, & CFO Isaac Silvera, New Jersey Senator Vincent J. Polistina, Hamilton Township Committee Member Dr. Thelma Witherspoon, and Atlantic County Commissioners June Byrnes and John Risley, Jr.
“We’re thrilled to have the generous support of Spencer Spirit Holdings again for a milestone fifth year,” said Elizabeth McCarthy, President & CEO of the Community FoodBank of New Jersey. “Their sustained commitment has made a tremendous difference across South Jersey, which has some of the state’s highest rates of food insecurity. CFBNJ is deeply grateful for the food, funds, and time – our three most precious resources – that they provide year after year.”

“For the past five years, our partnership with the Community FoodBank of New Jersey has reflected the best of what Spencer’s and Spirit stand for: long-term commitment, meaningful action, and support for the communities we serve,” said Steven Silverstein, CEO of Spencer’s and Spirit Halloween. “We’re proud to continue this work to help expand access to food across South Jersey and support lasting impact for those who need it most.”
Beyond annual financial support, Spencer Spirit Holdings associates also volunteer to make a hands-on difference at the FoodBank, doing everything from office work to sorting and packing donations to assisting with special events and more. In five years, more than 1,000 employees have given over 2,200 hours of their time.
The company has also provided more than 19,000 pounds of food and non-food donations, including diapers and period supplies to support CFBNJ’s #GreatBigDiaperDrive and #GreatBigPeriodProductDrive, as well as $5,000 in gift cards that were distributed during the October/November 2025 government shutdown to neighbors missing their SNAP benefits. Since 2022, Spencer Spirit Holdings has provided about 350 free Halloween costumes each year to neighbors visiting CFBNJ’s Community Assistance Pantry in Egg Harbor Township, bringing joy to children and families for the holiday.
CFBNJ’s Corporate Impact Partner program recognizes companies that donate food and/or funds above a certain threshold to support CFBNJ’s mission. Last year, nearly 150 companies participated in the annual program.
