State Police Offer Help For Kia/Hyundai Thefts In Atlantic Co.

BUENA VISTA, NJ — New Jersey State Police are offering assistance to Kia and Hyundai owners amid a rise in thefts of certain models of these vehicles.

Thefts have increased, especially in Atlantic County, of models of Kia and Hyundai vehicles with non-push start ignitions, Absecon police previously said. In a span of eight days in June, Absecon police responded to six thefts of Kia and Hyundai vehicles in various parts of the city.

To help, NJSP are offering free steering wheel locks to Kia and Hyundai owners out of their Buena Vista station, courtesy of their Auto Theft Task Force and Hyundai.

They also are offering the locks out of their Totowa and Hamilton (Mercer County) stations.

All you have to do is bring your driver's license and proof of registration to 1045 NJ-54, Williamstown.

The locks will be given away while supplies last.

Kia dealerships also recommend that owners make an appointment to have their vehicle security system software updated, at no cost.
