Teen Struck By Car Getting Off School Bus In Atlantic County: Police
The 15-year-old Mays Landing boy was seriously injured and had to be airlifted to the hospital, police said.
HAMILTON, NJ — A Mays Landing teenager had to be flown to the hospital after he was struck by a car while getting off his school bus, police said.
The unidentified 15-year-old was getting off the bus on Mays Landing Somers Point Road at about 5:43 p.m. on Dec. 4 when he was struck by a 2013 Honda Civic heading south driven by a 79-year-old man from Selbyville, Delaware, according to Hamilton police.
The Sheppard school bus, operated by a 60-year-old Millville woman, was stopped in the northbound lane, police said.

The 15-year-old was seriously injured and was airlifted to Cooper Hospital in Camden, police said. There was no further information regarding his status.
He is a student at Oakcrest High School, Greater Egg Harbor Regional School District Superintendent James M. Reina confirmed in a statement to families. The crash happened as the student was exiting an athletic bus, Reina said.

"Our thoughts, prayers, and positive energy are with the student and their family," Reina said.
Counseling services are available at Oakcrest High School for any student in need, he said.
No summonses have been issued to either driver as of Tuesday morning, police said. Investigation is ongoing into procedures and any possible violations by the drivers.
