Two Dead Following Suspicious Fire at Egg Harbor City Home

The fire on Washington Avenue claimed two lives Wednesday morning.

A suspicious early morning fire has claimed two lives at a home in Egg Harbor City, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said on Wednesday.

The victims have not been identified pending positive identification. An autopsy is scheduled for Thursday.

The cause of the fire has been deemed to be suspicious by law enforcement officials.

At about 8 a.m. Wednesday morning, Egg Harbor City Police, Mullica Township Police, and firefighters from the Egg Harbor City Volunteer Fire Department and the South Egg Harbor Volunteer Fire Company responded to a residential structure fire on the 200 block of Washington Avenue, Egg Harbor City.

Firefighters extinguished the fire.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Egg Harbor City Police Department are conducting the investigation.
