Two Men Indicted in January Murder of Atlantic City Man

Rahmir Skinner and Mario Blocker were indicted on 10 counts for the Jan. 31 shooting death of Kenneth Moore.

Two men have been indicted for the murder of an Atlantic City man that took place in January, Atlantic County Prosecutor Jim McClain said Thursday night.

Rahmir A. Skinner, 25, of Atlantic City, and Mario Blocker, 39, of Bridgeton, were indicted on 10 counts for the Jan. 31 shooting death of 61-year-old Kenneth Moore in his Atlantic City home.

Atlantic City Police found Moore in his home on North Bellevue Avenue shortly after midnight, dead from a gunshot wound to the chest.

The incident was initially ruled a suspicious death, but was ruled a homicide following an autopsy conducted the following day.

Skinner and Blocker were arrested on June 9, following a five-month investigation by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department. They allegedly killed Moore during a robbery attempt.

Skinner was served the charges in New Jersey State Prison, where he is serving a prison sentence on an unrelated conviction. Blocker was transported from the Atlantic County Justice Facility—where he was lodged on an unrelated matter—served the criminal complaints, and returned to jail.

Both men were charged with murder, armed robbery, conspiracy, weapons possession offenses, including possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Bail for each man was set at $1,000 full cash.

On Wednesday, they were indicted for murder—a 1st degree crime, 1st degree and 2nd degree robbery, and the following 2nd degree crimes: unlawful possession and conspiracy to possess a handgun, possession and conspiracy to possess a firearm for an unlawful purpose, possession and conspiracy to possess a community gun, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

Due to statutory aggravating factors delineated in the indictment, a conviction for the murder carries a potential sentence of life without eligibility for parole in a maximum security New Jersey State prison. The 2nd degree crimes each carry a potential penalty of 5-10 years of imprisonment if convicted.
