Two More Announce Intent to Run for Galloway Council
Joyce Pratt and Tom Schurtz will join Councilman Jim Gorman on the Democratic ticket.
Joyce Pratt and Tom Schurtz announced their intentions to run for Galloway Township Council on Tuesday. They will join incumbent Councilman Jim Gorman on the Democratic ticket.
Pratt is the president of T&J Associates, which provides employment consulting and training services in the areas of diversity and employee relations. Pratt is a member of the National Association of Professional Women and served on the Advisory Board for the New Jersey Conference on Women.
“Small businesses are the backbone of our country and our township,” Pratt said. “It is time we had a comprehensive plan to bring more of them to Galloway in order to grow our economy and create jobs.”

Schurtz, a former councilman who served from 2008 to 2009, coached and taught at Absegami High School for over 20 years before retiring in 2005.
He is now a language arts teacher and drama director at Assumption Regional Catholic School and a member of the Knights of Columbus.

“Far too many of my former students tell me how they are struggling with property taxes and the high cost of living in Galloway,” Schurtz said. “We need to aggressively attract new businesses to Galloway so we can reduce the property tax burden on our residents.”
The Democratic Primary is June 2.
“I look forward to running with Joyce and Tom,” Gorman said. “They are great candidates, but more importantly, they are great people.”
