Wanted Man Charged With Weapon Offenses After Attempting to Flee Galloway Police
Jeffrey P Austin was wanted for failure to appear in court in Egg Harbor City.

A Galloway Township man wanted for failing to appear in court in Egg Harbor City was apprehended while in possession of a loaded handgun early Thursday morning, Galloway Township Police announced.
Jeffrey P Austin, 25, was charged with eluding apprehension, resisting arrest, possession of a loaded .357 by a convicted felon, possession of a defaced firearm and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Galloway Police stopped Austin at 12:09 a.m. on Thursday on Route 30 at Sixth Avenue. Austin fled during the investigation of the suspicious vehicle.

Austin was captured several blocks away by K-9 Officer Hiram Melendez and his partner Chico.
Austin was injured during the altercation, and treated at a local hospital.

Upon his release, he was charged and lodged in the Atlantic County Jail Facility in lieu of $100,000 bail.
K-9 Chico was not injured during the apprehension.
