What Exit? Parkway Finally Opens New 89A Ramp
Where Exit 88 once was, a long-discussed full-access interchange for north- and southbound traffic is finally operational.
If you’ve driven the Garden State Parkway north any time in the last few days, you may have been a little surprised by the opening of Exit 89A-B in Brick.
The reconfiguration opened with no fanfare; on Sunday, traffic cones and barriers were in place. On Monday they were gone.

The completion of the interchange -- a project long in the making and even longer desired -- gives Parkway travelers two options for exiting the toll road in Brick in both directions. The move will eases traffic tieups at Exit 90, as well as congestion on Chambersbridge Road and at the jughandle just off that exit by Brick Township High School.
Now, those coming north on the Parkway who want to go to the southern end of Brick or to Lakewood no longer have to sit through traffic on Chambersbridge to get to Route 70.

In addition, the new exit will allow those headed to Lakewood BlueClaws’ games coming from the south on the Parkway to connect with Cedar Bridge Avenue, providing direct access to the stadium.
The change also includes the addition of Exit 89A southbound -- where exits 89B and 89C opened last fall -- to provide access to Route 70 west to southbound motorists.
