Woman Charged With Assaulting Absecon Police Officers
Shannon E. Walsh, of Sayreville, also assaulted a woman who picked her up Saturday morning.

A 24-year-old female was charged with assaulting a police officer in Absecon Saturday morning.
After a night out in Atlantic City, Shannon E. Walsh, of Sayreville, contacted a friend for a ride home at 10:10 Saturday morning.
She was picked up by Caitlin Whittet, 26, of Ocean Township. Whittet had her three-year-old son in the car with her when she picked up Walsh, who allegedly began assaulting Whittet as she drove shortly after they left Atlantic City.

Whittet was able to call 9-1-1 and notify Absecon Police of the assault. An officer located the vehicle as it headed west on the White Horse Pike.
Walsh was allegedly observed hitting the driver as she drove the vehicle and she grabbed the steering wheel attempting to force the vehicle into the concrete barrier.

Once the car pulled over, Walsh allegedly got out and ran. As the officer attempted to stop her, she allegedly turned around and attacked him.
A second officer arrived on the scene and assisted in taking Walsh into custody. Once in the police car, Walsh allegedly got out of her handcuffs and began kicking the patrol car windows.
She was then taken out of the car and allegedly began kicking two officers in the legs and groin. She was restrained and transported to the Atlanticare Regional Medical Center Mainland Campus for evaluation.
She was released from the hospital and subsequently charged with two counts of aggravated assault for the two victims in the car and three counts of aggravated assault for the police officers. She was also charged with three counts of resisting arrest.
Bail was set at $75,000 cash and she was lodged in the Atlantic County Justice Facility.
