Woman Convicted Of Animal Cruelty At Galloway Home
Lisa Monzo, a former Galloway resident, had five animals living in "deplorable" conditions, authorities said.
GALLOWAY, NJ — A former Galloway resident was convicted of animal cruelty after animals were found living in "deplorable" conditions at her home, the Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office announced Thursday.
Lisa Monzo, 59, was convicted on five counts of animal cruelty after a bench trial found that she did not provide proper care to a dog, two cats and two birds, according to authorities.
The animals were found in Monzo's Galloway home on Nov. 4, 2022 by the Atlantic County Sheriff's Office and Galloway police.

Their living condition was described as "deplorable," with no fresh water, edible food or clean and habitable living conditions, authorities said.
All of the animals were removed from the home, given medical assessments and were placed in rehabs and foster homes, officials said.

Monzo's sentencing is set for Sept. 2024.
The prosecutor's office thanked the sheriff's office, Galloway police and animal control for their help in rescuing the animals.
"We also remind the public that neglect is a form of animal cruelty and ask the public to report any incidents of animal cruelty to their local police departments," authorities said.
