The Yardbirds, Resorts Casino Hotel, Superstar Theater

After the success of their 2016 tour, The Yardbirds head back out on the road, stopping at Resorts Casino Hotel. Enjoying a run of solid sold-out performances in 2016, The Yardbirds continue to hold true to the band’s legacy of masterful musicianship. Led by Rock and Roll Hall of Famer, founding member and drummer Jim McCarty, the band (consisting of guitarist, Johnny A; bassist, Kenny Aaronson; singer, blues harpist, and percussionist, Myke Scavone and lead singer and guitarist, John Idan) evoke the essence of the classic Yardbirds sound on stage July 7th, 2017 in the Superstar Theater at 9:00pm.

Ticket prices are $35.00 and $25.00 and are on sale April 15th, 2017 through Ticketmaster at www.ticketmaster.com or 1.800.745.3000. Tickets will also be available at the Resorts’ Box Office.

The Yardbirds are known for enhancing the skills of “guitar gods” Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, and creating new aspects of Rock and Roll from 1963 to 1968. The core members and songwriters, Jim McCarty: drums, Chris Dreja: rhythm guitar and bass, and the late Keith Relf: vocals and harmonica, experimentation provided the crucial link between British R&B, Psychedelic Rock, and Heavy Metal, while innovating fuzz tone, feedback and distortion. Top chart hits included “For Your Love”, “Heart Full of Soul”, “I’m A Man”, “Over Under Sideways Down”, and “Train Kept A – Rollin’”. Even though the band broke up in 1968, Rock ‘n’ Roll’s future did not; leading Jimmy Page to form the New Yardbirds, later named Led Zeppelin.

McCarty and Dreja reunited The Yardbirds decades later in the 21st Century, releasing the CD Birdland in 2003 with featured guest appearances from Brian May, Joe Satriani, Slash and Steve Vai. In addition, the band honored their 50th anniversary in 2013 with their DVD Making Tracks.

In 2015, Jim McCarty unveiled the new touring line – up of The Yardbirds, consisting of Johnny A, Kenny Aaronson, Myke Scavone and John Idan. Goldmine Magazine states them as “the band’s hallmark of top – notch musicianship remains. There are no passengers in this band.” Crowds at the shows are filled with 20 year olds to baby boomers, all influenced by the electric, heavy rock, and wild jams of The Yardbirds performing an experience of Rock ‘n’ Roll history.
