1 Injured In Gloucester Township House Fire: Police
One person was injured when a fire broke out at a home in Gloucester Township Thursday night, police said.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — One person was injured when a fire broke out at a home in Gloucester Township Thursday night, police said.
Gloucester Township police responded to the scene of a fire on the 1000 block of Chews Landing Road just before 6 p.m., police said.
Arriving officers encountered heavy smoke and observed fire coming from the attached garage. The officers evacuated the residents as the fire departments arrived.

One resident suffered minor burns to their legs and arms and was treated at a nearby hospital. The resident was not identified.
Gloucester Township Fire Department Stations 82, 85, 86 and Runnemede Fire Department responded and quickly extinguished the fire.

While this incident does not appear to be suspicious at this time, it is being investigated by the Gloucester Township Police Department Investigations Bureau and the Chews Landing Fire Department Fire Marshal.
“This is a reminder to check your fire suppression systems and alert / audible alarm systems to ensure they are operational,” police said. “Smoke alarms are a key part of any fire escape plan. When there is smoke, there is fire which can spread quickly. Working smoke alarms give you early warning, so you can get outside quickly.”
