1 Killed, 3 Hurt In NJ Transit Bus, SUV Crash: Cops

A Clementon man was killed and three other people were injured in an accident involving an NJ Transit bus and an SUV Friday morning.

WINSLOW TOWNSHIP, NJ — A Clementon man was killed and three other people were injured in a head-on collision involving an NJ Transit bus and an SUV on Cross Keys Road early Friday morning, Winslow Township police announced.

Howard L. Markee, 28, was killed when his 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer collided head-on with a 2014 NJ Transit Ford link bus on Cross Keys Road just after 5:30 a.m. Friday morning, police said.

Markee was trapped in his car, and had to be rescued by firefighters from Winslow Township, Berlin and West Berlin, police said. He was airlifted to Cooper Trauma Medical Center, where he died as a result of his injuries, police said.

Markee was traveling south when his SUV collided head-on with the bus, which was traveling north, police said. It wasn't clear how the accident occurred.

A passenger in Markee's car, 28-year-old Amanda Wolford of Clementon, was taken to JFK Hospital in Washington Township to be treated for non life-threatening injuries, police said.

The driver of the NJ Transit bus was 54-year-old Carlos Sanguinetti of Philadelphia, and the lone passenger was identified as 43-year-old Clarence Bailey, of Sicklerville.

They were both taken to Cooper Hospital to be treated for non life-threatening injuries. The NJ Transit Link Bus provides services for those with special needs.

Winslow Township police are investigating the cause of the accident.
