14 BHPR High School Wrestlers Advance To Region Tournament
As a team, Highland finished second in District 29, and Timber Creek was fourth.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ - A total of 14 wrestlers from the Black Horse Pike Regional School District will compete in this year’s individual regional tournament. Teams from across New Jersey competed in district tournaments over the weekend, with the top three finishers from each weight class advancing to regions. The top three regional wrestlers advance to the state championship tournament in Atlantic City.
In District 29, Southern Regional won the team title with 234 points. Highland was second with 177.5, followed by Buena with 138 and Timber Creek with 84.5. Below are the results of the finals and the third-place matches, according to nj.com.
Finals, District 29, both wrestlers advance to regions:
113: John Prendergrast of Highland defeated Jason Scerbo, of Southern, 4-2.
120: Nicholas Digiacomo of Timber Creek defeated Matt Brielmeier, 8-0
126: Kameron Jenkins of Timber Creek defeated Matt Hoelke of Highland, 12-6
132: Justin Cariss of Highland pinned Travis Brown of Pinelands
145: Nicholas Pepe of Southern defeated Jeremiah Clark of Highland
152: Nicholas O’Connell of Southern defeated Brett Buckingham of Highland, 19-5
182: Evan Burton of Pinelands defeated Jason Evans of Highland, 6-1
Heavyweight: Griffin Jackstadt of Barnegat defeated Elijah Wilson of Highland, 3-2

Third place finishers, District 29, winner advances to regions:
106: Chris Hoskins of Timber Creek defeated Antonio Kiefer of Pitman, 13-6
138: Adam Aquilino of Highland pinned Aaron Peters of Deptford
182: John Seaman of Timber Creek defeated Sammy Drogo of Buena, 9-5
220: Josh Ortiz of Highland defeated Tony Thompson of Buena, 8-5
In District 27, Cherry Hill West won the title with 227.5 points. Triton scored 21 points. John Valdez, of Triton advanced to regions by taking third place at 106 pounds, according to nj.com. He scored a sudden victory over Anthony LaSala of Rancocas Valley in the third-place match.
