Cookie Competition Heats Up With Crave Cookies Set To Open In South Jersey

The chain offering fresh-baked treats is similar to competitor Crumbl Cookies, which has quickly grown its New Jersey presence.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Another chain offering fresh-baked cookies is on its way to South Jersey — and it's not the one you've likely heard about before. Crave Cookies set up shop for a future eatery in Gloucester Township, which would become the company's first New Jersey bakery.

Founded in Utah, Crave Cookies offers an array of fresh treats with a menu that changes each week. Crumbl Cookies — also founded in Utah — does the same. But Crave differs in that it consistently features some cookies with fillings. For instance, this week's menu includes a Cocoa De Leche cookie with dulce de leche filling.

Crave Cookies has a dozen locations — possibly a baker's dozen when the South Jersey shop opens — including 10 in Utah and one apiece in Tennessee and Florida, according to its website. (Crave Pitman, a bakery in the namesake borough, isn't affiliated with Crave Cookies.)

The new Crave Cookies is set to open in The Shoppes at Cross Keys, replacing the shuttered Yogo Factory Frozen Yogurt in the complex on Berlin-Cross Keys Road. It wasn't immediately clear when Crave Cookies might open.

Crave's entry into the New Jersey market will mean a bit more competition for Crumbl Cookies. Crumbl opened its first South Jersey location last summer in Cherry Hill and now has a Turnersville store. A Mount Laurel location also remains in the works, with plans to open by the end of this year. Read more: Crumbl Cookies To Open Its First Burlington County Store
