2 Pets Dead, Family Left Homeless After Fire In Blackwood
Heavy smoke was seen leaving the home.
BLACKWOOD, NJ — A family was unable to return to their home on Thursday night after a fire broke out in Blackwood, the Gloucester Township Police Department said.
At around 5 p.m., officers responded to Amber Court for a report of heavy smoke at a home.
Police and fire crews were met with the thick smoke and a locked front door.

Firefighters forced entry to make sure nobody was inside. No residents were home at the time of the fire.
The fire was able to be contained at around 5:15 p.m.

The home was deemed unlivable due to heavy smoke and soot damage.
The American Red Cross and Gloucester Township Office of Emergency Management services were available, but the family found additional housing arrangements.
Crews found two pets that were dead in the home. No responders or residents were injured.
According to officials, the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
