3 Gloucester Township Children Test Positive For Coronavirus
Three of the new coronavirus cases in Gloucester Township on Friday were among children. Five children have tested positive this week.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Three children were among four additional Gloucester Township residents who have tested positive for the coronavirus, Camden County officials announced on Friday. The fourth person was a woman in her 60s.
A total of five children have tested positive for the coronavirus in Gloucester Township this week. This includes four 10-year-old girls and one 10-year-old boy. Of the 44 cases announced in Camden County on Friday, more than 60 percent are younger than 30, according to Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr.

“We need to be clear that young people are not immune to this virus, and they are contracting and carrying COVID-19 in increasing numbers,” Cappelli said. “We continue to find that the spread of coronavirus at this time is largely linked to preventable, behavioral choices, such as attending parties or large gatherings, and not wearing a mask or social distancing. We need to take the recommendations of our public health officials seriously if we are going to get through this, especially when the fall reduces our ability to gather outdoors where air flows more easily.”

Countywide, there are 9,334 coronavirus cases with 551 confirmed deaths. According to the Camden County Department of Health, there are 1,340 confirmed cases among residents at the county's long-term care facilities, with 311 deaths. Another 530 cases were reported among staff members, with three deaths.
