GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Six Gloucester Township residents died after testing positive for the coronavirus between June 11 and July 2, Camden County officials announced on Monday. They were among 15 new coronavirus-related deaths that have been reported during that time period.
Sixteen Gloucester Township residents were among the 114 additional cases of the coronavirus that were reported from July 3-6. As of Monday, there are 764 cases of the coronavirus in Gloucester Township, with 41 confirmed deaths.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families as we announce 15 additional tragic deaths due to COVID-19 in our community,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. “Today, Governor Murphy issued a stark warning as he announced that the state’s rate of transmission has climbed to its highest point in weeks. We have to be unequivocal in this moment. If we do not take this threat seriously, we will erase the progress we have made in recent months. Do not travel to states with high rates of transmission unless it is absolutely necessary and follow the self-quarantine guidelines when you return home if traveling is a must. Do not congregate in large groups, especially indoors. Wear a mask whenever you are in public and maintain appropriate social distancing from others at all times. We must follow these guidelines adamantly if we are going to save lives and avoid the challenges that now face states like Texas, Arizona, and Florida.”
