7 Gloucester Township Residents Died Of Coronavirus In 1 Week
Camden County reported 32 coronavirus-related deaths on Dec. 29, the most in one day since the pandemic began.
GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — Seven Gloucester Township residents were among the record number of Camden County residents who died after testing positive for the coronavirus last week.
Thirty-two coronavirus-related deaths were announced in Camden County on Dec. 29, the highest number of deaths due to the virus in Camden County in one day since the pandemic began. Two days later, the county announced 12 additional deaths.
“While our daily case totals have leveled off for the time being, deaths in our county continue to rise at a pace only seen during the first wave in the spring,” Camden County Freeholder Director Louis Cappelli Jr. said. We have to do everything we can to protect our community until a vaccine is widely available to the public. Wear a mask, watch your distance, and celebrate the coming holiday responsibly.”

As of Monday, 3,389 Gloucester Township residents have tested positive for the coronavirus since the beginning of the pandemic. Camden County officials didn’t break down the total number of deaths by town since the pandemic began in its most recent update.

They did note the following information about Gloucester Township residents whose deaths were reported on Dec. 29 and 31:
- Two men in their 80s;
- Two men in their 60s;
- A woman in her 70s;
- A man in his 50s; and
- A man in his 70s.
As of Monday, 29,758 Camden County residents had tested positive for the coronavirus and 747 had died since the beginning of the pandemic.
The Camden County Department of Health also announced that 1,991 residents and 1,070 staff members at the county's 56 long-term care facilities have tested positive for the coronavirus since the pandemic began. Since then, 392 residents and three staff members have died.
