This holiday weekend, GT Patch has picked local and Shore events for you and your dad to enjoy.

It’s Father’s Day weekend and there are so many cool things you could do with dad, beginning tonight.

Michael’s offers up a variety of kids’ crafts that would make great Father’s Day gifts.

Then there is the exciting bike event at the Atco Raceway he might enjoy.

Michael’s Father’s Day Crafts

  • Where/When: Michael's Arts & Crafts, 63 Chrissy Way, Sicklerville; tonight and Friday at 6 p.m., Saturday at 10 a.m.
  • What’s Going On: Michael’s gives you three chances to take the kids to make dad a handmade gift. Tonight you can have them create a duct tape wallet, tomorrow night they can make cards and Saturday they can make him a keychain. Go one night or every night and have fun making dad’s custom gift.
  • Pricing: Free

Bike Night

  • Where/When: Atco Raceway, 1000 Jackson Rd., Atco; today at 4:30 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Want to give dad an adrenaline rush? Visit the exciting Atco Raceway for Bike Night. Whether you sign up to compete in a race or just want to watch from the sidelines, this is a fun event for everyone. There is even a playground and a game room to keep the kids occupied.
  • Pricing: Competing bikes, $20; spectators, $15; juniors (12-15), $5; kids (7 to 11), $1; kids 6 & under, free



Where/When: Barnes & Noble, 1553 Almonesson Rd., Deptford; Friday at 6:30 p.m.

What’s Going On: Does your dad like politics? Does he like to read? Take him to Barnes & Nobles to meet former New Jersey governor Richard J. Codey. The author of Me, Governor?: My Life in the Rough-and-Tumble World of New Jersey Politics is set to sign his book. He wrote of family life and politics.

Megamind in the Park

  • Where/When: Lt. Col. Samuel M. Siler Veterans Memorial Park, Chews Landing Rd. and Lincoln Dr.; Friday night at dusk (arrive around 7 p.m.)
  • What’s Going On: Bring the entire family out to see this free animated film. The movie follows supervillian Megamind as he struggles with life after the loss of his archenemy. Watch as he discovers plotting to take over the world isn't as much fun if there isn't anyone to stop you.
  • Pricing: Free

Blackwood Farmer's Market 

  • Where/When: Gloucester Township-Blackwood Rotary Public Library, 15 S. Black Horse Pike, Blackwood; Saturday, 8:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: Local farmers bring their fresh produce for sale. The market also has vendors offering local honey, baked goods and wine. You’re bound to find something dad will like at this outdoor event.  
  • Pricing: Free to attend, item prices vary

Jersey Jam for MS

  • Where/When: Haddon Lake Park, 13th Ave. and S. Park Ave., Haddon Heights; Saturday, 3 to 7 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: This well-shaded park is the ideal setting for the seventh annual Jersey Jam 4 MS. Attend this charity concert and listen to eight musical acts. Sing your heart out and learn more about MS during this event. Why will dad love this? It’s free and the kids can play on the playground while he sits back and taps his toes.
  • Pricing: Free 

 

AT THE SHORE: 

  • Where/When: Ocean City Music Pier, Boardwalk and Moorlyn Terrace, Ocean City; tonight through Saturday, 7:30 p.m.  
  • What’s Going On: Let's face it—dad might get a kick out of all the pretty ladies and the swimsuit competition. Why not bring him to the Miss New Jersey pageant?
  • Pricing: $35 for preliminaries (tonight and Friday) and $50 for the final. A package price of all three is available for $100.

VFW Parade at Wildwood

  • Where/When: 21st and Atlantic avenues, North Wildwood; Saturday at 1:30 p.m.
  • What’s Going On: If you are down the Shore with dad, and he’s a veteran or you are, this is a great event to attend. Watch as the VFW parade marches to recognize the brave Veterans of Foreign Wars. 
  • Pricing: Free

42nd Street

  • Where/When: Resorts Hotel & Casino, 1133 Boardwalk (at North Carolina), Atlantic City; today, 3:30 and 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 9 p.m., Sunday, 7 p.m.
  • What’s Going On:Because not all men simply love sports, a broadway-inspired musical might be just what dad ordered. The Resorts Hotel and Casino presents 42nd Street, a story centered on a director’s attempts to put on a musical during the Great Depression.
  • Pricing: $25, plus any applicable fees

Kid Rock

  • Where/When: Borgata Hotel & Casino, 1 Borgata Way, Atlantic City; Saturday, 8 p.m.  
  • What’s Going On: Okay. Maybe this event isn’t for dad. Maybe it’s for you. Rock out with Kid Rock at the Borgata in Atlantic City. This popular and controversial musician is best known for his hits “American Bad Ass” and “Picture” (with Cheryl Crow). His style is rock meets rap meets country.
  • Pricing: $101 and up, plus any applicable fees
