LAUREL SPRINGS, NJ — A home along Cameron Circle caught fire twice overnight Wednesday, the Gloucester Township Police Department said.

At around 9 p.m. on Tuesday, officers were in the area of Chews Landing Road when they noticed heavy smoke leaving a home in the area.

They then responded to the 50 block of Cameron Circle and could see fire through the roof, in the back of the home, and in the sunroom.

The situation was escalated to a second-alarm designation due to conditions that included the flames entering a second residence and strong winds that led to rapid spread.

Multiple homes were evacuated as a precaution due to dangerous weather conditions and flying embers.

The outside of one residence nearby was also damaged.

One resident and their two pets at the home were able to get out safely.

The fire was brought under control in about 40 minutes, the Chews Landing Fire Department said.
