CAMDEN COUNTY, NJ — Residents and business owners have received fake invoices by email from sources that claim to be local officials, the Camden County Board of Commissioners said.
People are pretending to be members of the Camden County Planning Board, the Director of Public Works, and the Director of Planning.
The messages are asking for funds to cover various unpaid costs, which can be cleared through a wire transfer to fake accounts.
All municipal planning boards will not ask for random payments through email, officials added.
Anyone who received one of these messages should not click on any links, contact anyone over phone, or email any provided email address.
The message should be deleted.
