Fire Continues To Close NJ Elementary School

LINDENWOLD, NJ — The effects of a fire on Tuesday night have closed Lindenwold Elementary School #4 through Monday, the district said.

Remote learning will be utilized during this period.

Students and families will be able to use Google Chromebook laptops that are being distributed in the bus loop area from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 to 7 p.m. on Thursday.

Laptops will only be available to approved and listed "Real Time" contacts after showing ID.

Bulk food meals will be available for pick-up on Monday from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with enough food for five days. Details will be released at a later date regarding location.

The School 4 Open House is also being rescheduled.

Due to class being canceled on Wednesday, a make-up day is set for October 12.

At around 8 p.m. on Tuesday, firefighters responded to the school for a report of potential smoke in the area, the Lindenwold Fire Department said.

Contractors were working on the roof and air conditioning units.

Summer construction work that continued into the fall was going on at the time.

Smoke was found inside the school, leading police officials to evacuate all of the staff and workers.

Fire personnel also found a large heat source near the roof.

Helicopter footage from NBC showed the multi-vehicle emergency response at the school.

Everyone was safe, and the fire was deemed to be caused by an accident, according to officials.
