BROOKLAWN, NJ — A 26-year-old man was shot outside of Empire Sports Bar on Saturday, the Camden County Prosecutor's Office said.
Daejuan Sanders, 27, of Lindenwold, was charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree aggravated assault, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and third-degree aggravated assault by pointing a firearm.
At around 2:20 a.m., officers with the Brooklawn Police Department responded to the bar along Crescent Boulevard for a report of a shooting outside.
The man who was shot was already on his way to the hospital in a private vehicle.
According to officials, Sanders shot him while the man was trying to de-escalate a physical fight involving multiple people in the parking lot.
Sanders was charged on Tuesday and turned himself in later in the day. He was taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
