Black Horse Pike High School Football Teams Make Playoffs

All three teams will pursue South Jersey championships this fall.

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, NJ — All three Black Horse Pike Regional High School football teams are chasing South Jersey championships this fall. For the first time, the teams that emerge as South Jersey champions will play their Central Jersey counterparts.

Highland is the No. 2 seed in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 4 playoffs, according to nj.com. The Tartans will host No. 7 Ocean City in the first round on Friday, Nov. 2, 7 p.m. The winner will face the winner of the game between No. 3 Clearview and No. 6 Hammonton in the semifinals on Nov. 9.

The championship game is set for Nov. 16. At 5-3, Millville is the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament. To view the full bracket, visit nj.com.

Highland is 7-1 this season, with its lone loss coming at Burlington Township by one point on Oct. 20. The Tartans shut out three opponents this season, including Oakcrest, 30-0; Moorestown, 28-0; and Paul VI, 55-0. It also has a one-point win over Timber Creek, 16-15, on Sept. 28.

Ocean City won its first three games of the season, but has dropped four straight. It won at Egg Harbor Township and Absegami, and at home against Bridgeton. Three of its four losses came at home, against St. Augustine, Oakcrest and Mainland. The Red Raiders went on the road in a loss to Triton.

The South Jersey Group 3 champions will play the Central Jersey Group 4 champions the week after Thanksgiving. To see the Central Jersey Group 4 bracket, visit nj.com.

Timber Creek and Triton are both competing for the NJSIAA South Jersey Group 3 championship, according to nj.com.

Timber Creek is the No. 5 seed and visits No. 4 Wall in the first round on Friday, Nov. 2, 7 p.m. The winner faces the winner of the game between No. 1 Burlington Township and No. 8 Oakcrest in the semifinals on Nov. 9.

Triton is the No. 6 seed and visits No. 3 Woodrow Wilson in the first round on Saturday, Nov. 3, 1 p.m. The winner plays the winner of the game between No. 2 Delsea and No. 7 Deptford in the semifinals on Nov. 9.

The championship game is set for Nov. 16, with the South Jersey Group 3 champions set to play the Central Jersey Group 3 champions the week after Thanksgiving.

Timber Creek is 4-5. In addition to the loss to Highland, the Chargers dropped two games out-of-state, at Central Catholic (Ohio) and at New Rochelle (New York). They also lost to Millville and St. Joseph (Hammonton).

They defeated Hammonton, 28-7; Vineland, 24-10; Atlantic City, 12-7; and Willingboro, 27-7. Wall is 5-2.
Triton is 5-3, with wins over Cherry Hill East, Cherry Hill West, Cumberland Regional, Ocean City and Pennsauken. The losses were to Sterling, Burlington Township and Seneca. Woodrow Wilson is 6-2.
