What happened at Timber Creek, Triton and Highland last week?

The first week of the high school sports season is in the books and there was a lot of action on the soccer and field hockey fields.

Timber Creek 2, Camden Catholic 1, Sept. 14: Nicholas DeFeo and Matt Wolf each scored in Timber Creek’s season-opening win.

Shawnee 2, Timber Creek 1, OT, Sept. 16: Pietro Gambino’s overtime goal proved the difference in Shawnee’s win. Chris Morales put Timber Creek on the board first in the first half, but Caleb Longshaw provided the equalizer in the second half to force overtime.

Bishop Eustace 6, Triton 5, Sept. 12: Shane Hartney’s four goals weren’t enough as Triton suffered the season-opening loss. Justin Brinkman also scored for Triton. Sam Gray and Andrew Petrangelo each scored twice for Bishop Eustace.

Triton 2, Kingsway 1, OT, Sept. 14: Xavier Wilson had the game-winner for Triton as the Mustangs bounced back from their opening day loss. Shane Hartney had the other goal, and Tyler Liberkowski contributed one assist.

Triton 4, GCIT 0, Sept. 16: Shane Hartey led the way with two goals, followed by Tyler Kraft and Tyler Lieberkowski. Goalie Chris Tubens made 10 saves in the win.

Sterling 4, Highland 0, Sept. 11: Sterling held a 1-0 halftime lead but scored three times in the second half to pull away for the win.

Highland 3, Deptford 2, Sept. 12: Anthony Crispaldi scored twice to help Highland bounce back from the season-opening loss. Jack Pisani had the other goal, and goalie Zach Nagel made seven saves in the win.

Williamstown 1, Highland 0, Sept 14: Zach Nagel’s 14 saves in goal weren’t enough as Highland fell to 1-2.

Hammonton 7, Highland 0, Sept. 16: Goalie Zach Nagel made eight saves for Highland, but the Blue Devils managed to find the back of the net seven times in the win.

Girls Soccer

Timber Creek 4, Camden Catholic 0, Sept. 14: Sarina Jones led the way with two goals and two assists in the season-opening win. Grace Adkins and Emily Navarrete each scored a goal. Goalie Skye Hunt made two saves in the win.

Shawnee 5, Timber Creek 0, Sept. 16: Four different players scored for Shawnee, led by Alexis Palladino with two goals and two assists.

Burlington Township 5, Triton 3, Sept. 12: Jordan Carty, Korina Darji and Michaella Paradiso each scored for Triton, which opened the season with a loss.

Kingsway 10, Triton 0, Sept. 14: Goalie Gabrielle Daisey’s 10 saves weren’t enough for Triton, which fell to 0-2.

Triton 1, GCIT 1, Sept. 17: Michaella Paradiso scored for Triton and Jenna Phillips had GCIT’s goal, both in the first half. Triton goalie Gabrielle Daisey made 12 saves in the tie.

Highland 6, Sterling 2, Sept. 11: Highland broke a 2-2 tie at halftime with four goals in the second half. Jaclyn Alston and Renae Moken each scored twice in the win. Lauren Hoelke and Shannon McGlinn also scored for Highland. Goalie Anneliese DeFinzio had five saves, and Kaitlyn Bannon made four.

Highland 4, Haddon Heights 2, Sept. 12: Lauren Hoelke scored twice in the win. Gianna DiPierro and Erin Looby also scored. Goalie Kaitlen Bannon made six saves and Anneliese DeFinzio made four saves.

Williamstown 5, Highland 1, Sept. 14: Jaclyn Alston had Highland’s only goal as the Tartans suffered their first loss of the season.

Hammonton 3, Highland 2, Sept. 16: Highland led 1-0 at halftime, but Hammonton stormed back with three second-half scores. Jaclyn Alston and Camina Balmores each scored for Highland. Goalie Kaitlyn Bannon made 11 saves in the loss.

Field Hockey

Camden Catholic 2, Timber Creek 0, Sept. 14: Emily Berry and Kelli Connolly scored for Camden Catholic, which scored both goals in the second half.

Shawnee 6, Timber Creek 1, Sept. 16: Bridget Boyle lead the way with two goals for Shawnee in the win.

Kingsway 5, Triton 0, Sept. 14: Goalie Sarah Wozunk’s 20 saves weren’t enough as Triton suffered the opening day loss.

Triton 2, GCIT 0, Sept. 16: Kate Flemming led the way with a goal and an assist as Triton picked up its first win of the season. Kaitlyn Malloy also scored in the win.

Clearview 10, Highland 0, Sept. 11: Claire Eisenhart led Clearview with four goals and an assist as Highland suffered the opening day loss.

Highland 0, Williamstown 0, Sept. 14: Goalie Elizabeth Schmidt made 12 saves for Highland.

Hammonton 5, Highland 0, Sept. 16: Goalie Elizabeth Schmidt made 15 saves for Highland, which remained scoreless on the season.

Burlington Township 4, Highland 0, Sept. 17: Elizabeth Schmidt made 12 saves in goal, but it wasn’t enough for the Tartans.
